In planning the design and construction of a new building or the modification of an existing building, we carefully consider the environmental forces which the physical context for the building- it site- presents. A site's geographic location, topography, plant material, climate, views and orientation to the sun and pervailing winds all influence decisions at a very early stage in the design process. These environmental forces can help shape a buildings form, articulate it's enclosure, establish its relationship to the ground plane, and suggest the way it's interior spaces are orientated.

In addition to a site's unique environmental conditions we also carefully consider all applicable zoning ordinances and building codes. These regulations may prescribe acceptable uses for a building site as well as limit the size and shape of the building's mass and where it may be located on the site.
